Chinatown  (Smith Street)

In 1998, NAC acquired the upper storeys of a row of 8 buildings along Smith Street and 2 buildings at Trengganu Street in the historical conservation area of Kreta Ayer Street for arts use. These spaces have been allocated to arts groups that specialise in Cantonese Opera, Beijing Opera, Teochew Opera, music, theatre, calligraphy as well as literature.

Harmonica Aficionados Society club house is located at 21-B Smith Street.

Smith Street is also a popular food street in Chinatown area.
